The internet is saturated with blogs. There’s a blog for anything and everything you could think of and people who rely on blogs for information and entertainment most likely already have a go-to blog so, as a new blogger, it can be hard to reach your target audience.

Don’t let this discourage you, though. There are plenty of ways to drive traffic to your blog and one such way that many bloggers swear by is joining Pinterest group boards.

What is Group board?

A Pinterest group board is like an online community of bloggers on Pinterest where people share their content with each other to widen their reach and increase traffic to their site. It’s usually owned and run by one blogger who can send invites to other bloggers to join the board and add pins. Non-invited bloggers/users can also search up group boards and send a request to join those boards which the board owner will then decide whether or not to accept.

Most Pinterest group boards owners only allow bloggers in the same niche to join their boards for easy and efficient collaborating, though there are also group boards that allow anyone to join. If you’re looking to drive traffic to your blog, however, it’s best to join group boards that are focused on the same niche as your blog.

Aside from driving traffic to your blog, other benefits that you gain from joining Pinterest group boards include:

How to get in contact with the group board owner?

When looking for new Pinterest boards to join, it’s best to look for those that have the “Request to join” option as these are most likely the ones that are still in need of new members to join the board. Some Pinterest board owners “close” their boards and remove this option once they reach a certain number of members. However, you could still try and get in touch with the board owner and asked to be invited to the group board if that’s the case.

Many group board owners leave their email addresses in the description so you can send them an email saying you wish to be invited to pin in their group board. To find out who owns the group board, click on the members. The first profile shown on the top of the list is the one who created the group board.

In the event that the group owner’s email address/contact information isn’t in the board’s description section, you can always send them a direct message on their Pinterest account instead. To do this, click on the message icon to the lto your username then click on the pencil icon to insert a name and write your message.

After sending your message, all you have to do is wait for the invitation from the Pinterest group board owner to join their board and start pinning your content. Remember that group boards usually have rules that you have to follow so make sure to read them and follow then when you get invited so you don’t get kicked out.

What to write in your request email?

Your request email has to be two things: brief and convincing. When writing an email to the group board owner, remember that they’re probably getting hundred of these every day so they won’t spend their time reading a novel about how your blogging journey started or what’s motivating you to write. Just tell them that you want to join their group board and leave your Pinterest account information (username, email, and your blog URL) so they can add you.

Here’s a good example of what to send the group board owner, either via email or Pinterest DM.

Hi (group board owner’s name),

My name is (your name). I run (your blog’s name and link) and I’d love to join your Pinterest group board, (Pinterest group board name).
